MT MAWSON SKI FIELD

Mount Mawson is located within the Mount Field National Park approximate 1½ hour drive from Hobart in southern Tasmania. The ski area is at an altitude of approximately 1250m and usually gets fairly consistent snow falls during winter resulting in sufficient cover for downhill skiing from mid-July to mid-September. This is a picturesque alpine environment featuring; gnarly snow gums, unique pandani plants and the calls of the ubiquitous currawong birds trumpeting across the valleys.

The Salmon Ponds is the oldest trout hatchery in the southern hemisphere. They supplied the base stock of streams and lakes in Australia and New Zealand. Have the incredible opportunity to feed the trout and salmon before inspecting the Museum of Trout Fishing and fascinating Tasmanian Angling Hall of fame within stunning English parklands.

The Possum Shed: Enjoy delicious lunches made with fresh Tasmanian produce or indulge in their home-made cakes, scones and other delights while sampling some of the wide range of teas and coffees available. Spend time browsing the local art, craft and photography on display in the cafe or admiring the scenery from the deck and garden. If you are among the lucky, you may even spot Flossie, the resident platypus.
